Isaiah 54:1-17

Chapter 54
1 Sing, O barren one who did not bear; break forth into singing and cry aloud, O one who did not travail! For the sons of the desolate one are more than the sons of the married woman, says the LORD. 2 Enlarge the place of your tent, and let the curtains of your tabernacles stretch out—do not hold back! Lengthen your cords, and strengthen your tent pegs! 3 For right and left you will burst out, and your seed will inherit nations, and cities laid waste they will cause to dwell. 4 Do not fear, for you will not be ashamed; do not be abashed, for you will not be disgraced. For you will forget the shame of your youth, and you will not remember the reproach of your widowhood anymore. 5 For your husband is your maker, the LORD of hosts is his name; and your redeemer is the Holy One of Israel, the God of all the land. He will be called. 6 For the LORD has called you like a woman forsaken and grieved in spirit, like a wife of youth when you were rejected, says your God. 7 For a little moment I forsook you, but with great mercies I will gather you. 8 In a surge of wrath I hid my face from you for a moment, but with everlasting covenant steadfast love I had compassion on you, says your kinsman-redeemer, the LORD. 9 For this is like the days of Noah to me: just as I swore that the waters of Noah would never again pass over the earth, so I have sworn that I will not be angry with you and will not rebuke you. 10 For the mountains will be removed and the hills will be shaken, but my steadfast love will not be removed from you and my covenant of peace will not be shaken, says your compassioning One, the LORD. 11 Poor storm-wind, not comforted—behold, I am laying your stones in porphyry, and I founded you in sapphires. 12 And I will put carbuncles as your sunshades, and your gates as stones of carbuncle, and all your boundary as stones of delight. 13 All your sons will be taught by the LORD, and great is the peace of your sons. 14 In righteousness you will be established; you will be far from oppression, for you will not fear; and from her terror, for she will not approach you. 15 Behold, he sojourns—he fears—none from me. Whoever sojourns with you will fall upon you. 16 Behold, I have created the smith who blows the fire of charcoal and brings out a vessel for his work, and I have created the destroyer to destroy. 17 Every vessel formed against you will not succeed, and every tongue that rises against you in judgment will not condemn you. This is the inheritance of my servants, says the LORD, and their righteousness from me, says the LORD.
